Returns the signal from a shared variable
Category: Input
The Shared Variable blocks are used to communicate diagrams between tasks or inside a specific task. It is a kind of global variable with unrestricted scope, it can be accessed by any task and any diagram either finite state, transition, or signal flow. Additionally, it has a predictable behavior, since its value is always initialized as zero and is updated only at the end of a task execution with no interference by the scheduling logic during preemptions.
The Shared Variable Input block returns a value stored in a memory which is protected amongst processes of specific tasks. This memory is initialized as zero. When no value is set to a shared variable, it is expected that this block return zero.
The memory that contains shared variable values gets updated by a Shared Variable Output block at the end a task execution.
QFIRE CTR-101
has 128 different addresses in the memory to save data. These addresses work like global variables that can be accessed by different diagrams.
Shared Variable Input Dialog
Returns the value saved in the memory address selected in the Variable Index parameter field.
